Deadline-driven content creator.
User-focused communicator.
Disciplined writer and editor.
My background is in meteorology, but my skills go beyond knowing about the weather. I’ve spent more than 16 years distilling complex information for non-experts, helping them make decisions for their daily lives.
At Spectrum Networks, I was one of the original members of a team that created and curated digital-first weather content for our customers. Not only was I pitching, researching and writing weather-related stories, I copyedited others’ articles to ensure they followed AP and company style guides. I managed two weather graphics projects to ensure a clean and consistent look. I also helped advise local and national news teams on weather expectations, so they could plan their coverage appropriately.
I started my decade at KCRG-TV working weekend mornings, then the weekday midday shift and primary fill-in for mornings or evenings. The nature of weather sometimes required pivoting quickly, such as jumping into severe weather coverage and being a calm communicator during dangerous weather. I valued community outreach and visited dozens of schools and organizations to share weather knowledge and safety, and even implemented a network of weather observing stations at schools throughout the viewing area. Because of my attention to detail, my managers charged me with handling two weather graphics updates and refreshing the look of our weather app.
I thrive in a deadline-driven environment because I effectively prioritize my work, having always been on small teams where efficiency is crucial. I am accustomed to finding ways to streamline workflows, allowing me to be more focus on more productive, impactful tasks.
I earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society in 2010, demonstrating my technical knowledge and ability to distill complex material into understandable, actionable information for non-experts.
